Mannanan

Mannanan is our two day model boat festival which we hold at Silverdale towards the end of June each year.

The event was originally conceived as a 3 day competition event which was held at our 3 separate sailing venues around the island, but in recent years we have reduced it to a 2 day weekend with a smaller number of competitions and an emphasis on a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of opportunities for free sailing. The event concludes with a friendly dinner and prize presentation, usually held on the Monday evening.

The event is open for anybody to attend and attracts a number of UK visitors with their models, some of whom have become regular visitors and club members over the years. (visiting modelers are required to have their own insurance, or sign a temporary club membership to be covered by our insurance).

In addition to regular model boats, we also have a display of club members model vehicles and more unusual items such as ‘pop pop’ boats running in a smaller pool or novelty models such as crocodiles which always attract a lot of attention.

The dates for this years event are Saturday 29 June and Sunday 30 June 2024.
